Lil’ Bit - 12.25.2012 to 10.02.2026
Lil' Bit was our precious girl and family member for almost fourteen years. She was a rescue pup when a friend brought her into our lives in March 2013.
She has brought our family great joy for over a decade with her gentle and loving personality. Everyone that met her fell in love with her immediately. I was working in our garage when I first saw her jump from my wife’s car knowing she had become our new family member. The many pictures of our baby will serve to remind us of the special times and events we shared with her over the years.
She was a runner so special precautions were taken to secure the fence gates leading into the back yard. One time when she got out I really panicked. I will never forget the feeling of apprehension that gripped me in that moment. I immediately drove around the block and the first neighbor I found outside said Lil' Bit went into her neighbors garage and made a new friend. She described her as an "Adorable little black dog with white markings". The neighbor placed her into a kennel until she could find the owner.
I was very grateful to find her so quickly. After the incident I understood how very important she was to us and that she truly was a member of our family. I called her "Daddy's Little Good Girl."
Whenever we left she was free to roam throughout the home but would inevitably be waiting for our return in the same place in the foyer looking at the front door awaiting our arrival. Since we had a glass section in the door which allowed her to see us whenever we arrived home, I would usually have a session when Lil' Bit and myself had a little talk before entering the house. Lil' Bit and I always conducted a barking session with her on the outside of the door before we entered our home. She had her favorite places throughout the house where she would fall asleep, so we had more than one bed for her to sleep.
We recognized and loved those places that were special to her knowing she would fall asleep there...those places are special to us now in her absence.
She would always jump up to greet us when we opened the door to love on us. She welcomed every visitor to our home and every visiting dog we “dog-sat”. She would joyfully share her bed and toys with visiting pups. She truly had what I termed a "beautiful personality framed in a special little animal".
Lil' Bit developed an anxiety condition after we were forced to board her for 4 months during our home restoration in 2018 after hurricane Harvey. It was a very difficult time for us as a family but we always managed to visit her weekly during that time. Lil' Bit had the most loving attitude and was a quiet pup who cared little for being boarded with a bunch of barking dogs in a facility. She lost over 10 pounds from the boarding experience as she enjoyed the quiet, laid-back lifestyle our home offered her for almost 14 years.
She gained all of her weight back once she returned home with us and we were reunited as a family. She always wagged her tail even in times of distress and made the most of any situation. We recognized the very special heart and emotion within her.
The many times we would curl up with her and fall asleep with our arms wrapped around her was telling of the quiet love we had for her and her for us.
We discovered she had cancer in December 2025 and every day became an even greater treasure to us. God gave us 7 more months with her than anticipated by the Vet Cancer Specialist. It became necessary to give her back to God on October 2nd, 2026. It was the most difficult decision of our lifetime as she was a very special family member. We have been heartbroken with her absence and miss her every day.
We remain thankful to God for the many years we shared with our precious "Good Girl," and she will hold a very special place in our hearts as we will always remember our Lil' Bit.
We will always Love you Lil' Bit our very precious “Good Girl”.
